Frances Green Scotland Class

Natural Stone & Findings Mosaic Course, with Frances Green

From Frances:

The idea of this mosaic course is that we collect natural materials and findings during our stay in Scotland, which we will turn into a small mosaic on the evening of day 4.

We‘ll have enough time to collect pebbles, shards, broken glass, and whatever else we come across in and around Stirling, and the mosaic will also have enough time to cure a bit before the trip home. I will show you how to make an ungrouted mosaic, which you can finish during the course, or else I will give you enough adhesive to finish it at home. You will need: - small pebbles and stones, broken china, glass, thrift store finds, dumpster spoils, knick-knacks... just keep your eyes peeled and collect whatever you find. I brought home what I swear is the corner off a broken toilet from my last stay in Scotland - AND I since used it in a mosaic! - a base: a larger smooth stone for instance. I will also bring some small MDF bases in case you don‘t find anything that inspires you.
I will provide the adhesive and the tools to work with, a written description of the technique and tons of suggestions and advice.
You don‘t need any prior experience, and I will do the course with as many or few people as want to join in.
I’m totally fine with last minute participants, as well!
